Hi friends 👋

Welcome to Health & Wealth — your weekly source of the latest health research and biotech trends. I want to start 2022 by framing, “why Health & Wealth?” — and how the two work synergistically. Happy reading!

Concerning Health and Wealth

Two topics impact everyone, whether you are interested in them or not: health and money.

Humans are information hounds whenever we have a financial interest at stake.

By contrast, while there may be many things worthy of your attention — from the latest scoop on Trainwreck Theranos to all the Twitter threads you bookmarked while scrolling (but never got back to) — you don't relentlessly seek these out because you have no personal stake in that topic. (Unless it's your recent random obsession or life's calling)

What's an exception to the rule that we tend to actively seek out information particularly when money is involved?

The exception is when our loved ones or we are suffering — we will go to the ends of the earth to seek solutions to the problem we're experiencing. A common manifestation of this type of pain is health-related issues. We seek remedies and if proactive, preventative strategies to mitigate future pain.

Our willingness to pay for more time in better health is significant. Research indicates that the average American would pay $242,000 for one extra year of good health.

As we live longer, long-term wealth management is less about making it to an arbitrary finish line — retirement — and more about ensuring that we don't outlive our health, finances, skills, and relationships.

The rules to the game of life are rewritten. Now more than ever, we have the opportunity to live longer, healthier, and more productively.

What will you choose to focus on in the New Year?

If this resonates with you, you're in the right place. Health & Wealth’s goal is to highlight actionable insights on living healthier, longer, and wealthier.

You won't find fad diets or prescriptive health protocols here. People are not monolithic, and likewise, our bodies shouldn't be treated as such. Instead, health optimization strategies presented here are researched guides for you to see which direction to shoot. Test yourself to find your bullseye.

Concurrently — 2021 was a rocky year for biotech investing. But I fundamentally believe opportunities are abundant in the biotech space — and that there are emerging giants. Expect to see more in-depth company analyses in 2022.

I actively write deep dives about what I'm researching and thinking about on Health & Wealth. I do my best to provide objective and balanced analysis, unlike many biotech pumpers with perverse incentives.

You can help by sending ideas/feedback (reply to any email), encouraging colleagues to read Health & Wealth, and sharing my work on Twitter @HealthWealthGen.

If you're new, subscribe for ideas you won't find anywhere else:

Let’s go 2022! 🚀
