Any clue about Ginkgo's use of AI in their cellular squid games? I recently read AI 2041, which discussed the current and future prevalence of AI in medicine creation.

Haha so I see my Squid Game analogy stuck 😂

I don't think Ginkgo goes into depth about how exactly AI plays into their design process, and hence I can't speak to it very much. My understanding is that algorithms/analyses are used to predict functional data (how DNA sequences will actually function when expressed) and model how organisms will grow at scale.

If you're interested in AI drug development, I came across this thread of some companies you may want to look into: https://twitter.com/Biotech2k1/status/1454424464284848134?s=20

I'm intrigued myself and may want to write about what I learn.

GInkgo did try making their own products. Rose oil was the one I remember. Maybe they still do? Either way, didn't turn out to be a hit. With regards to Synlogic - take a look at the stock price chart since the collaboration with Ginkgo was announced. Clearly doesn't look like the market thinks it's going anywhere.

I thought they had collaborated with some big fragrance companies like Robertet in the early days for rose oil? https://www.synbiowatch.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/Rose_Oil_CS_ETC.pdf

Synlogic has been historically undervalued I feel… Ginkgo has certainly overshadowed them in terms of messaging and marketing.
